International Work at Hetton School
At Hetton, we currently have 4 partner schools in France, Germany, Chile and China, and we have just won our third International School Award.
We are ahead of most of the other schools in Sunderland in this respect.

We have just started our fourth Comenius project. It is called “21st Century Young Europeans” and we are working with Collège Jean Moulin in Arnouville (northern Paris) and KGS Wiesmoor (north-west Germany, near Bremen). You can find out more about our partner schools on their websites:

Over the next two years we will be covering the topics of Music, Literature, Ecology and the Media. We will be having regular project meetings in all three countries where teachers and pupils from Hetton will be able to present their project work to the partners.
In October half term, Mr Haigh and Mrs Seccombe visited Collège Jean Moulin, where they met some of the teachers from the partner schools, discussed the project and found out lots of information about the education systems of France and Germany. They also got to have a day out in Paris.

International School Award

We have won our third International School Award for 2008-2011 ! In October Mrs Seccombe went to a ceremony in London to receive the Award from BBC newsreader George Alagiah. Hetton received a special mention at the ceremony for receiving the Award for the third time – only about forty schools in the whole country have managed this.
Here are some of the activities that we did last year as part of the application procedure:
